Good morning and happy Wednesday y’all!
To the left, you will find Khmerican’s new logo! This is the final version that launched last week on all their social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), although their website is waiting for an update with the new logo. I am still so excited even though it was launched last week! Also, it’s crazy when I realize that this baby probably has had more exposure within it’s first week than my whole blog since it’s creation. *happy dance* Thank you Khmerican for this amazing opportunity!! I’m so grateful to be part of such an awesome and cooperative team 🙂
I am even more proud about this launch knowing it’s been a year (maybe even a bit longer) in the making. Due to our many moves (life in the Army will do that to you), this project kept getting shelved until this July when I was determined to finish this by September, despite living the nomadic life while waiting for a house on post. Of course, the exec team at Khmerican gave me a nudge too that kick started this motivation.
At this point, we had already cycled through two rounds of brainstorming and drafting mockups. It was a matter of picking things up again and deciding on what subjects to be used to represent Khmer and America. It was a bit of a debate because the we all wanted something easily recognizable for both cultures, but presented in a fresh, bold and new way. With that in mind, the exec team agreed that the design used for the KhmerIcan Vote 2012 campaign will be a good reference point, thus making Angkor Wat and the American eagle the subjects of our logo.
There were easily over a hundred mockups drafted throughout this whole process, both hand-drafted and vectors. They feature different styles, arrangements, shapes and so on. I would love to share them all with you, but I don’t want to bore you. I will, however, share with you the first hand-drafted version that resembles the final logo:
What do you think of the logo? Would you khmericanize your things? Leave a comment or tweet me @karabear143 and let me know!

Today is the first snow fall, so it’s winter wonderland here in Fairbanks already! Don’t believe me? Check it out this pic I posted on Instagram (@Karabear143):
Snow never sticks like this on the first fall in Seattle… ever! Ok, “ever” is a bit exaggerated, but you get the point.
In other news, I recently joined Bloglovin’, and I don’t know why I’ve waited this long. In addition to being on the list, I can spend time looking at other cool blogs. So don’t forget to follow my blog with Bloglovin!!
